Some questions we’re anticipating:

If I preorder, how do I get status updates?

Our free-to-join members area will have weekly status updates in the “Proto” blog. You will also get a monthly email update. (Early access members will continue to receive daily updates in the early access area.)

What about International Shipping?

International Customers (outside the US): This preorder price does not include shipping to your location. We will make every effort to work with you to design a shipping strategy for your unique location to minimize shipping and ancillary costs. You will be billed directly for additional shipping when your order is ready.

What about upgrade mirrors?

We are still testing upgrade primary mirrors and expect to have a solid option for this before the end of the year. Once this option is available, we will provide an upgrade opportunity for your order. We expect this upgrade to cost +$500 USD as part of your preorder. We may choose to purchase a limited number of upgrade mirrors to stock, but if you order them after receiving your stock mirrors, the cost will represent the full cost of the upgrade mirrors.

What is the design status?

Design work is ongoing as updated in the Bloom early access space of the members area. All items on the Trello list will be addressed for the launch version.

Are the prices still the same?

Yes.

Are the features still the same?

Yes. The mount will include a tall ground ring (not pictured) rather than the tripod used in the photos. Tripod use will still be possible using included hardware. Tripod (Zwo TC40) is not included in the kit.

Right now the included eyepiece prototype is coming in closer to 65 degrees AFOV due to lenses being slightly different from previous prototype lens arrangements. If this turns out to be a better overall eyepiece experience we may stick with this.

Some parts will appear different in the final version. All parts that make sense to black powder coat/anodize will be powder coated/anodized.

We are still prototyping/testing mount bearings steel vs. UHMW. The best option will be chosen as the production option.

Has the timeline changed?

Yes, we have bumped back the timeline a couple weeks to match the beginning of preorders.

Can I customize my preorder in terms of features (remove X, Y, or Z?)

Yes, a few people with existing PiFinder or eyepieces have asked us to remove those items for their preorder. Go ahead and choose your base preorder option then email us at the help desk with your customization request and we will refund the correct amount.

Can you break up the preorder into multiple payments?

Yes, 1) Klarna is activated on our site, and offers multiple payments. See their info for more details. 2) We can accommodate a limited number of orders broken into multiple payments over a 3-month period. Serial number (and your place in line) will not be entered until payment 2 is finished. Please use the help desk to make arrangements.
